How to Maintain Your LEED Credential

Continuing Education hours are a required component of maintaining your LEED credentials. LEED Green Associates and LEED APs must complete unique credits within each 2-year reporting period. This page contains information about how to maintain your credentials and links to the courses you can use to easily maintain your valuable credentials.

LEED Credential Maintenance:

All LEED professionals are required to maintain their credentials by earning continuing education hours.

LEED Green Associates must complete fifteen (15) continuing education hours.

LEED APs with specialty must complete thirty (30) continuing education hours within the two-year reporting period. Twenty-four (24) of the hours are general CE related to green building and six (6) hours must be “specific”.

Continuing education requirements for your AP credential must be completed within a two-year period. If you pass the LEED AP BD+C exam on November 18, 2019, your 2-year reporting period ends on November 17, 2021, and the next period begins on November 18, 2021. You have 30 days after the reporting period ends to report your hours to the USGBC but cannot apply any CE earned during this time period to the reporting period which recently ended.
