MasterSpec, GBES, and SIG Announce Industry Partnership
June 26, 2017
Green Building Education Services (GBES) and Sustainable Investment Group (SIG) are pleased to announce their partnership with ARCOM, the creators of MasterSpec. The partnership with ARCOM, the writers of Masterspec, comes at an important time in LEED innovation. These companies will benefit from each other during this industry transition from LEED v3 to LEED v4.
GBES and ARCOM will work together to create online education materials for architects, engineers and building product manufacturers regarding sustainable practices in specifications. They began their partnership with hosting two webinars on June 14th and June 15th.
In the first webinar, our Materials & Resources experts discussed Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs). An EPD discloses the environmental impact of an individual building design product. The second webinar pertained to Health Product Declarations (HPDs). An HPD is the list of all the materials used to manufacture a product.
In the latest version of LEED certification, LEED v4, changes were made to the category Materials & Resources. These changes levy responsibility on manufacturers to be mindful of what ingredients go into their products.
SIG will work with MasterSpec to incorporate sustainable design into the industry’s latest trends and needs. MasterSpec, a leader in sustainability, will depend on SIG’s consultancy team to help maintain and update content. SIG’s team are subject matter experts on sustainable design schemes, such as WELL, Living Building Challenge, and Fitwel. They will aid in the inclusion of these design schemes into MasterSpec.
“We look forward to further educating the AEC and building product manufacturer communities about LEED v4 and WELL through this partnership with MasterSpec. There are a lot of changes and updates happening right now in the green building movement and it’s our job to put out adequate information to our audiences,” said Charlie Cichetti, CEO of GBES.com.
