Emmanuel Pauwels has worked as a Green Building Consultant since 2008. He learned about LEED certification during a sustainable construction course at Harvard University and became passionate about the transformative power of green building certification. His first building seeking LEED certification was in Spain. He also started teaching online courses to help other professionals in Spain and later in Latin America, Europe, and the United States to become LEED Professionals.
In 2015 he became a USGBC Faculty, recognition as a credible, qualified instructor, teacher, and facilitator with deep expertise in and passion for sustainability that cuts across sectors, cultures, and geographies. Green Living Projects was founded in 2009 and has grown organically to 5 full-time employees, all equally passionate about green, healthy buildings.
Looking at the latest evolutions in green buildings, Emmanuel got to know the Living Building Challenge certification developed by the International Living Future Institute based in Seattle, USA. As a believer in restorative solutions for our built environment, he co-founded the Spain Living Building Collaborative in 2016 and is also co-founder of the International Living Future Institute Europe.
With his vast international background, he has lived in the U.S, Belgium, France, Indonesia, and now Spain and speaks five languages fluently. Recently Emmanuel became a Living Future Accredited Professional, which acknowledges him as someone with a holistic framing of sustainability and the understanding needed to transform communities into socially just, culturally rich, and ecologically healthy spaces.
